The day after Thanksgiving for me means time to decorate for Christmas. The only shopping venture my family of three makes is to the Christmas tree farm to cut down our tree. I love Christmas. I love the Christmas memories I have from my childhood, my teenage years and adulthood. Memories that make me feel so very loved. When studying Isaiah last year in my bible study, I came across many scriptures that became my favorite. One of these is Isaiah 43:4a. In this scripture, God says, "You are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you". As I glanced upon this scripture in my notebook, I thought about how much God loves us. He loves us so much, that despite knowing He'd have to suffer a brutal death to reconcile us back to Himself, He decided to create us anyway. Relationship with us was worth Him leaving His heavenly throne, coming in flesh as a little baby born of a virgin to walk among His own creation and then to die a brutal death as atonement for our sin. We are so precious to God, and He loves us so much, that through Jesus' death, burial and resurrection, He established a direct path for believers to His throne. We celebrate Christmas each year because Jesus was born. All because He loves us.
